What’s flowering – Cyrtanthus leucanthus

Cyrtanthus leucanthus or the witbergpypie (white mountain pipe) is flowering at the moment in Walker Bay. This is an endangered species and local endemic that is restricted to the area between Betty’s Bay and Potberg and grows on limestone and sandstone soils. It has a hollow flowering stem and bears up to three pale cream, scented flowers that are about 40 mm long. The leaves only appear once flowering is completed.
